Getting close to a year now...

...and this is only my second post! Seems a bit silly to even have a blog with Facebook, Skype and Email making keeping contact incredibly easy. Perhaps this blog topic was just a bit too broad... after all, my life in Adelaide is now my life and that's a pretty big deal... at least to me!

So here's a blog I created that's a little more "in the moment"... my voyage to cut calories and burn the bulge... Follow my goal to lose 25 lbs before heading home for the holidays... Can I do it?!?!

2 Months In....

G'day everybody! I thought I would set up a little blog to keep everyone who's far away from me updated on my life... By the way, I miss you all!

Well, it's been about 7 weeks now that I've been in Australia and it has been amazing! Things are moving fast and in the right direction!

I'm having a pretty amazing good luck streak over here. On my first week here, I went out to a local bar near the bay called the Watermark. Every Friday night they hand out raffle tickets with every drink or food you purchase. Lucky me, my number got called for the grand prize and all I had to do was make a difficult golf putt to win $3,500! Well, I have no golf skills, so a friend of a friend took the shot for me and made it! They have been adding to the grand prize for almost a year because everyone keeps missing, so it was pretty exciting! Anyways, $300 went to the bar tab, $200 to charity, and $1000 to my new friend that made the putt. Somehow the other $2000 has seemed to disappear... I have no idea where it has run off to...? =)

Well, the good luck continued after that and about my 3rd or 4th week here, I was offered two jobs! I never would have thought that would be a tough position to be in, but it was stressful trying to decide what to do! Anyways, I decided to take the position with ThyssenKrupp Elevator, Adelaide, as many of you know! They gave me an offer I just couldn't refuse! My title is Business Development - Service, so that means my colleague and I are responsible for helping ThyssenKrupp Adelaide grow (selling contracts). So far so good, I'm a little rusty on the whole sales role, but I will be getting some training in sales next week that I'm hoping will give me more confidence to go out there and get some meetings set up!

In addition to a much better pay check than my previous job, I was given a car allowance. I decided to go all out and get a brand new car and I love it! I got a Ford Fiesta Sedan and it is WONDERFUL! It's amazing the difference a car makes even with the good public transportation in Adelaide. It was a little scary to drive on the left hand side of the road, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. Although, I still have a few moments of hesitation on these roads... especially at the big roundabouts!

Lot's of little functions including voice control and blue tooth! :)

My cute little car! (or... it's twin haha)

Anyways, other than that I've just been hanging out with Miss Kerry Thwing when she's not studying and some other friends in Adelaide. Also meeting a lot of other internationals that are studying wine with Kerry. Unfortunately a few of them are heading back home already. =(

Well, other news... festival season is coming up which means lots of awesome concerts and shows are their way to Adelaide! I'm counting down the days to Big Day Out and The Fringe Festival! Also looking forward to Stereosonic and Future Music Festival! (This is just one of the many reasons I love Adelaide so much!) Kerry and I have already gone to Park Life and saw Paramore with another concert coming up just around the corner...

I've also just found out I have a 2 and half week break around the holidays... so some kind of vacation might be in order... Considering a visit to Perth or maybe head to Sydney to see the Aussie family. Who knows!

I hope everyone is doing great back in the States! I miss you all so very much, especially the little Finnster who is growing up so fast without me there! =( I guess I can't complain... it was my idea to move a million miles away! Love you all!
